TABLE OF CONTENTS

1. The printer and curer are too far apart.

If your Adkins Inline / Compact / Pro is too far away from your printer, the printed media will not drop low enough to activate the front film sensor. The graphic below shows how the setup should look when the media is webbed up.

Please note the distance between the printer and the inline should be as close to 400mm as possible.

If there is too much tension on the media you may also experience issues with media slipping on the front vacuum roller.

2. The front film sensor is not detecting media.

Check the film sensor is working as it should

To check if the front film sensor is operating as it should be, open the 'IO' menu and locate the 'Film in' icon. This is found in the top left of the IO Menu. When the film sensor is not detecting anything, it should be illuminated red. When the film sensor is detecting media, it should be illuminated grey.

Colours of the screen and illuminated icons may vary between models and versions, please check your manual for accurate information about your machine.

Clean the optical sensor

Using a dry cloth, gently wipe the face of the front film sensor to remove any dirt or powder that may be affecting the functionality of the sensor.

Adjust the height of the sensor

If the film sensor is too low, it may seem like it is not operating correctly. To adjust the film sensor, move the magnetic bracket up or down. The higher the sensor, the less media required before it activates.

Adjust the distance screw

Remove the film sensor by pulling the magnetic bracket away from the front of the machine. On the rear of the sensor, you will find the distance adjustment screw (circled in red). To change the distance that the sensor will detect media, place an object the desired distance away from the sensor and adjust the screw until the red light goes dim.

3. Check the front film sensor is connected.

Remove the front sensor from the machine by removing the magnetic bracket so that you can see the red light on the back of the sensor. When an object is passed across the front of the film sensor, the LED should light up bright red when nothing is obstructing it and dull red when something is present.
