If your take-up roller isn’t turning as expected, follow these checks to identify and resolve the issue.

1. Activate the 'Roll' function on the control panel

Ensure the machine is in 'Roll' mode:

  • Press the Roll button on the control panel (shown in the image below)
  • Confirm activation by checking that the Roll indicator turns red

2. Check the Take-Up Roller is seated correctly

Make sure that the roller is fitted correctly to the back of the machine:

  • Turn off the Roll function before fitting to avoid gear damage.
  • Slide the take-up roller onto the back of the machine.
  • Align the roller’s gear teeth with the drive gears on the right-hand side.
  • Ensure both ends of the roller rest securely on their bearings.

3. Recalibrate the Tension Bar

For help recalibrating the tension bar, please watch the second half of the video below.

If you require further support recalibrating the tension bar, please contact your Adkins Dealer.

4. Realign the Tension Gravity Sensor

To realign the Tension Gravity Sensor you will need to remove the side cover that is closest to the screen and switches. Please follow the below procedure to do so.

  • Unplug the power lead before opening the machine.
  • Remove the side cover on the switch/screen side.
  • Locate the tension gravity sensor (part #10 in the diagram).
  • Remove and re-install the sensor ensuring that the gears align correctly*.

5. Inspect the Take-Up Motor Connection

If the take-up motor does not activate when the 'Roll' button is pressed, there may be a problem with the connection from the motor to the main board. Check the connections by following the below procedure:

  • Disconnect mains power and remove the screen/button side cover.
  • Find the take-up motor (part #9 in the above diagram)*.
  • Ensure its connector is firmly seated in the main board socket (4/4A in the above diagram).
  • Trace the wiring from the sensor to the main board looking for breaks, frays, or other damage in the wiring.
  • Replace the take-up motor.

If you’ve worked through all these steps and the take-up still won't roll, please contact your Adkins Dealer for further support.
