If your tension bar isn’t triggering rear roller suction on the Compact or belt reverse on the Inline / Pro, try these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
1. Activate the 'Roll' function on the control panel
The machine should be in 'Roll' mode for the rear suction roller to activate when the tension bar is lifted. Press the Roll button on the control panel (highlighted in green in the image below). Once active, the button should show in red.
2. Recalibrate the Tension Bar
For help recalibrating the tension bar, please watch the second half of the video below.
If you require further support recalibrating the tension bar, please contact your Adkins Dealer.
3. Realign the Tension Gravity Sensor
To realign the Tension Gravity Sensor you will need to remove the side cover that is closest to the screen and switches. Please follow the procedure below.
- Unplug the power lead before opening the machine.
- Remove the side cover on the left (switch/screen) side.
- Locate the tension gravity sensor (part #10 in the diagram below).
- Adjust so it the gears align well and make a good connection with the tension bar bracket.
4. Inspect the Rear Film Sensor (Compact & Pro models)
On both Compact and Pro machines, a faulty rear film sensor will stop suction or belt reverse. The machine relies on this sensor to know when film is correctly positioned, if it fails to detect film neither suction nor belt reversal will engage.
Refer to our article “Rear film sensor not working” for detailed diagnostics and replacement steps.
5. Firmware update required
The problem could relate to a corrupt firmware. Please contact your dealer regarding the best options for updating firmware as some models require an engineer to carry out this process.
If these steps don’t restore rear roller suction or belt reverse, please contact your Adkins Dealer for further support.
