Mimaki will not print due to temperature being too high - "!Machine temp./H"

If your Mimaki printer fails to print during high temperatures, one option to try and resolve the problem is to turn on the internal fan/blower (if applicable).

If your Mimaki machine is fitted with a Top Blower but the function is disabled, it can usually be enabled through the Machine Setup menu.


Why Enable the Top Blower?

The Top Blower helps improve airflow around the print area, assisting with ink drying and helping to stabilise media during printing. This is particularly beneficial when printing in warmer environments or during periods of high ambient temperature.

In high ambient temperatures, enabling the Top Blower may help reduce heat build-up around the carriage and platen area. While it is not intended as a corrective action for temperature-related errors, the additional airflow can contribute to more stable operating conditions during extended print runs. 


Enable the Top Blower

  1. Put the printer into LOCAL mode.
  2. Press MENU.
  3. Press MENU again to enter Machine Setup.
  4. Press ↑ or ↓ to navigate to Top Blower.
  5. Press ENTER.
  6. Change the setting from OFF to ON.
  7. Select the blower strength:
    • AUTO – Recommended
    • WEAK – For sensitive media
    • STANDARD – Maximum airflow
  8. Press ENTER to save.
  9. Exit back to the main screen.

Test the Blower

After enabling:

  1. Load media.
  2. Start a print.
  3. Place your hand near the blower outlet.
  4. Confirm airflow increases during printing.

Media Issues or Print Quality Issues with the Blower Enabled

If media lifting, excessive movement, or print quality issues occur:

  1. Disable the top blower. (Follow the above steps, turn from ON to OFF.
  2. Perform another test print.
  3. If the issue is resolved, leave the blower disabled for that media type or adjust the print environment accordingly. 

Additional Notes

  • Not all media types benefit from top blower operation.
  • Excessive airflow may affect lightweight or thin materials.
  • Follow Mimaki-recommended settings for the media being used whenever possible.
